Jun Policarpio (standing on right) organized the first social event between then Mayor
Ed Koch (wearing a native Filipino Dress called "Barong Tagalog") and the Filipino
Community.  The year was 1985.
 

Jun Policarpio joined the Immigration & Naturalization Service (INS) in 1990 after Rudy Giuliani's
mayoral election loss to David Dinkins.  He served as co-chairman of The Asian Americans for Rudy.
 

 

Jun Policarpio first got involved in community organization when Filipino residents in Jamaica, Queens elected him as president of the United Filipino Organization, Inc.  He organized a cultural festival at Cunningham Park in 1979 with then Queens District Attorney John Santucci as special guest.
