FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE/JUN POLICARPIO FOR CONGRESS'08
On Thursday, May 15th, the Queens County Conservative Party during a committee meeting presided by Chairman Thomas Long nominated JUN POLICARPIO as the party's candidate for Congress, 5th Congressional District in Queens County.
Roger Bogsted, the Nassau County Conservative Party Chairman, told candidate Policarpio that the party committee in next week's meeting on Long Island would also nominate him.
The 5th Congressional District of New York encompasses Northeast Queens and Northwest Nassau.
Jun Policarpio who is making a second run for Congress against incumbent Democrat Gary Ackerman is still waiting for an endorsement from the Queens County Republican Party chaired by Phil Ragusa and the Nassau County Republican Party chaired by Joseph Mondello.
What is interesting to note in this year's congressional election for the 5th district is the appearance of another candidate reported being put up by certain circles against Jun Policarpio, a Naturalized American citizen and a former U.S. immigration officer who is originally from the Philippines. The other candidate is from Great Neck who confessed during the Queens County Republican Party committee meeting on April 30th that she just registered as a Republican after being a "life-long Independent."
In 2006, Policarpio did not run and both the Queens and Nassau Republican Parties did not nominate anybody.
When Jun Policarpio ran in 2004, the Queens and Nassau Republican Parties nominated a last minute candidate. That candidate switched his candidacy from the 7th district to the 5th district upon the offer of instant nominations from both parties.
Jun Policarpio vows that he cannot be stopped to rid Congress of Gary Ackerman despite reports that certain Party Republicans in both counties like Gary Ackerman who is serving his 26th year in Congress.
